HOTEL FOR DOGS ATTRACTS LOCAL STRAYS

01/13/2009
By: Marley Fund

GREENVILLE, N.C.—Teamwork and many volunteers from the Marley Fund and Humane Society of Eastern Carolina join together for the love of dogs with an adoption event in honor of the release of the movie Hotel for Dogs, where no stray gets turned away. The adoption event will be held this Saturday from 12 noon until 4 p.m. at Carmike 12 located on Fire Tower Road in Greenville. Both rescue groups will be there to meet and greet the movie goers introducing them to Pitt County's finest adoptable dogs that are searching for their forever homes with a wonderful new family. In addition, Carmike Theater is offering popcorn buckets and movie tickets to those that donate to the organizations. "We are extremely proud to have the rescue groups and their dogs here and to be able to help homeless animals. We hope that we have many adoptions this Saturday," states Carmike 12 Manager Albert Coughlin. Marley Fund and Humane Society of Eastern Carolina take pride in working together for the name of homeless rescued animals. Seeing the trailer version of the movie brought heartfelt realities to both groups, as they work so hard on a daily basis to rescue the homeless. "It was great to see homeless strays getting recognition and that we will be a part of a great event," says Marley Fund Founder Joy Eubanks. Marley Fund was founded in 2001 for victims of FeLV and FIV and in 2006 they expanded their mission to include canines and non-infected felines and have become one of the largest foster animal networks in the state with 404 animals in their program statewide. "We are so thrilled for the community to be able to see our fantastic animals and look forward to a grrr-eat turn out," says Katie Benson HSEC Asst. Facility Manager. The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina has been supporting homeless animals for decades and is a "no-kill" facility housing 50 dogs and 20 cats.
