Marley's Cat Tales Program

Marley's Cat Tales Program is the adoption division of Marley Fund. This division is dedicated to rescuing and finding homes for stray and abandoned animals, providing education on responsible pet ownership, on FIV and feline leukemia, the importance of trap-neuter-release and partnering with other rescue groups to help change the world for the animals to make their existence pain-free and full of love.

Marley’s Cat Tales has healthy, medically up to date cats and kittens that are ready to fill your homes and hearts with love. Animals that will fill your days with companionship and joy beyond what you can imagine. They also have special cats - those that are FIV or FeLV positive, or with special needs—needing extra care or attention.

Marley’s Cat Tales are comprised of a network of foster homes and other volunteers that rescue and care for the animals until they are adopted. They work in conjunction with other rescue groups, veterinarians and the community to educate regarding responsible pet ownership. Join us, Marley’s Cat Tales, in our fight to make the world a better place for the animals.  For more information on how you can help Cat Tales, contact carol@marleyfund.com .

History
In June 2006, the Fund expanded in conjunction with veterans in the rescue community in Wake County, to open our adoption division, Marley’s Cat Tales.  This expansion allows the Fund to increase  our education program and the number of animals served, without limiting county boundaries—to serve animals in need regardless of location.  Marley’s Cat Tales works through a foster network throughout the Triangle area.  We are a dedicated group of volunteers with common goals: rescuing animals (both positives and non-infected felines), finding the best fitting homes for each animal and educating the public on animal health and responsible pet ownership, in conjunction with our parent organization, Marley Fund.   Many animals, including FIV positive felines from all over the state, especially eastern North Carolina, are channeled through this division with much success finding forever homes.   Currently, our feline leukemia cats are housed at the Marley House in Greenville, N.C.  Future goals include plans to open the Marley’s Cat Tales facility in the Triangle area with community rooms for the healthy cats and kittens, as well as a community room for the FIV positives and one for the feline leukemia positive cats.

Marley’s Cat Tales strives to provide a stress free environment for volunteers to assist in the goals of our division. As teamwork is a large part of the success of Marley Fund, Marley’s Cat Tales encourages collaborating with other rescue groups and veterinarians. To meet our ultimate goal—decreasing the number of stray animals and stopping the viral cycles of retroviruses, we recognize the necessity and vitality of teamwork to continue our efforts.

The addition of the Cat Tales Facility to the Marley Fund family is another step in expanding our educational programs on retroviruses FIV & FeLV, the need for testing to identify exposure, as well as proper testing protocol, responsible pet ownership, and the many ways to help the animals in need in our community.  Marley's Cat Tales is strategically located in the second largest city in North Carolina where the cat overpopulation is critical.

Although the Marley Fund founded initially for education on retroviruses (FeLV and FIV), expanding to the include the animal adoption and our education program in the Triangle area has been a dream that is now becoming a reality—helping save more lives. Marley’s Cat Tales is that reality.
